From readers and players
True stories from the people who read our comics and play our games.
The game night that mended a bad week. The page that said the thing you had been carrying. Write yours in a few sentences. A person here reads every one, and nothing is published unless you say so.
Why write one
Written down, the evening a game brought a quiet house back to the table becomes a hand held out to the next person.
Our stories are fiction. Yours is not, and that makes it the most honest thing this site can hold.
You choose the words, the name on it, and whether it appears at all.
The first prompt
“Which story do you hope somebody keeps telling?”
It is the questionROWWARDasks at the table, and the one we ask first here. Answer it about any story at all, ours or not.
How it works
Three prompts, not a blank page. A few sentences is enough. You decide whether your name appears.
Every note is read by someone at the studio, never by a machine. We reply by email, and if we would like to publish it we show you exactly how it would look.
Only with your yes, only with the credit you chose. Change your mind later and we take it down.
Our promises to you
Written into oursubmission termsandprivacy policy. Field Notes are stories, not advice: if you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line first, and write to us after.
The notes
We opened this page before anyone had written to it, on purpose. We would rather show you an empty notebook than one we filled ourselves. The first stories will appear here once their writers have read them back and said yes. One of them could be yours.
